- Print out a copy of the “Sell2Wales registration Guide: How to make the most out of your profile” available at the Rural-eGov Observatory http://rural-egov.aua.gr:8080/observatory/ (use the “Search for a Training Resource” facility) and then go to http://www.sell2wales.co.uk/
- Click the “click here to register” button on the top left hand side of the page.
- Fill in your Pre-registration details: name, eMail address, postcode etc.
- Then provide your company and location details, as well as a summary of your business profile.
- When you get to the section that asks for the product category that you belong to (based on CPV – common procurement vocabulary – codes), pay particular attention to ensuring that you have chosen the correct category as this will influence the notices/eMail alerts that you receive from the site.
- Once you have completed the above, you will have registered on Sell2Wales and will be viewable by others, such as public sector buyers. You can check your profile to see that you are happy with it and can update it at any time. There is also a facility on there to fine tune your profile so that you only hear about notices/opportunities that are of particular relevance to you.

How opportune!! I am trying to find out more about selling to the public sector and your simple to follow exercise of registering with Sell to Wales was just what I needed to make me take the need step.
Now I have registered I hope to make more use of this service and look forward to being able to quote for possible business
Intersting things on sell to Wales but does anyone know if all low value contracts - I am talking of say £10,000 - £50,000 are put on this site or are they somewhere else?

The procurement arm of the Welsh Assembly Government - Value Wales - have recently updated the Opening Doors Charter for SME friendly procurement and it states that the public sector in Wales will "more widely advertise contracts over £25,000 in value on sell2wales.co.uk".
The truth is that certainly not all contracts of this magnitude are advertised on Sell 2 Wales and it may be the case that few are. Indeed the picture is complicated as different public sector organisations in Wales have different policies and procedures for this in terms of how much transparency is required and these often differ according to contract size. I know this isn't the answer you wanted, but this (unfortunately) is the reality.
Much work remains to be done by the public sector in this area to improve the situation for SMEs and ensure that SMEs know about these lower value contracts in the first place toenable them to bid!
